RJL9123x · LIN RGB Smart Ambient Light Driver SoC
MCU + high-voltage LDO + LIN transceiver + three 60 mA LED drivers in a single chip, with built-in color calibration and temperature compensation for ambient lighting.
RJL9123x is a highly integrated SoC driver developed for dynamic automotive ambient lighting. It integrates a 32-bit MCU (16 MHz, 64 kB Flash with ECC, 8 kB SRAM with ECC), a high-voltage LDO, a LIN transceiver and three 60 mA constant-current LED drivers in a compact package.
Because of LED process variation, even devices of the same part number ship with chromaticity spread across the color bin tolerance, producing perceptible color differences, and LED color parameters also vary strongly with temperature. RJL9123x comes with an in-house calibration host application and LED color/brightness calibration tools. Using calibrated parameters for color mixing and inferring junction temperature from the LED forward voltage measured by the ADC together with a temperature compensation algorithm, the color error after mixing can be held within 0.5%.
To address the loss of synchronization in breathing-light effects caused by internal clock errors when several driver chips run independently, RJL9123x uses the periodic scheduling mechanism of the LIN master to synchronize the time base of the slave nodes, keeping the lighting effect consistent across the vehicle.
